Meet our new apprentices!

We regularly welcome young people into our workplace for work experience or to undertake apprenticeships. Our role as a growing employer within the community means we regularly look for ways to create employment opportunities or to provide exposure to career opportunities within our sector.

We’ve recently welcomed two new business support apprentices to our team.

18-year-old Jessica Harding and 16-year-old Louis Ross joined us through WS Training in November.

Jessica explains: “Prior to joining CF, I had been doing work experience in a primary school office and really enjoyed that, which is why I chose to work at CF.

“I’m currently working in the education department, so my work includes emailing, tracking tutor details and keeping them current, general admin, helping with attendance records, and supporting anyone who needs help in the office.

“I’ve been learning new things almost every day since I’ve been here, such as new technology, new software and new websites. Looking ahead, I’m looking forward to gaining new skills, learning new things and progressing in my career.

“I’m really enjoying it, so the long-term goal would be to be offered a position and continue working here. Everyone here is very friendly and have made me feel very comfortable.”

Louis explains: “I was keen to join CF as they are a growing company that has a positive atmosphere. They have good intentions to help children which is something I fully support.

“I’m currently working in the recruitment team, so my work mainly consists of supporting the recruitment compliance team to help with a smooth onboarding process for each candidate.

“The work is helping me adapt to a working environment and understand the importance of maintaining a good level of professionalism at work. I’ve improved my communication skills through answering the phone and communicating with colleagues. During my time here, I’ve noticed the importance of teamwork to make a business run smoothly. I’ve also learnt new systems to use in my role here, this has improved my IT skills and allowed me to complete more tasks within my role.

“Looking ahead, I’m most looking forward to developing new skills and knowledge to allow me to pursue my career interests. I hope to be either a business owner or to work in business management.

“I’ve enjoyed my first few weeks. Everyone within the company has been very supportive and kind to me, there’s a really positive atmosphere.”
