Meet the apprentice!

As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2024, we’re sharing the story of our Business Administration Apprentice, Millie Tyler.

Millie supports our administration and HR team with a range of duties and plays a key role in helping the smooth running of our departments. Alongside her role with us, she has a study day, one day per week to continue her work towards a Level 3 Business Administration Qualification.

Here, Millie explains more about why she decided to choose an apprenticeship and what she sees for her future:

“I chose to complete an apprenticeship as I tried out sixth form and it wasn’t for me. I also thought I could gain employer experience, alongside a recognised qualification, that could help me in the future.

“I decided to do a business administration apprenticeship as I already had experience working on IT packages and computers, and I felt I could learn a lot, whilst also gaining skills that would be relevant across lots of industries.

“It’s been a real change in my day-to-day routine and I’ve really enjoyed feeling more grown up with the responsibility of the role. I’ve gone from having a part-time job whilst at school to a full-time job where I have my own tasks, and my own responsibilities. This has been really rewarding and fulfilling. I also think I’ve enjoyed seeing my confidence grow. Since working with the team, I’ve become confident at small things like answering phone calls, to speaking up and voicing my opinion.

“After my apprenticeship ends in May/June 2024, I’d really like to stay with CF Group as the team is amazing and everyone has helped me to settle in so quickly. Being part of a company that helps vulnerable children and families is so rewarding and I would love to carry on my employment here.

“I would 100% recommend an apprenticeship to anyone! You get experience working a full-time job, you get paid whilst you are learning, and you get a qualification that employers look for at the end.”

Operations Director Nina Livermore said: “Having apprentices as part of our team has been a really positive experience for our business so far.

“Millie is our second apprentice – our first is actually now a full-time employee with us as he did such a fantastic job and contributed so well to the business.

“From an employer’s perspective, it’s wonderful to be able to help develop and support a young person into a career, whilst also receiving a valuable contribution through the work they’re carrying out to support our services.

“Millie has been fantastic and is now an integral part of our administration function. Her confidence and skillset has grown massively since she’s been with us and we’re very proud of everything she’s achieved.”
